“God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables – slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won’t. We’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.” - Fight Club (1999)
I’m really excited about this new project I’m doing. I just got back from a meeting and I finally have a chance to get my creative juices working as a director. I’m ecstatic right now because this upcoming project doesn’t have the concept of a typical rap video. I feel like the previous videos I’ve done were too vague and redundant, so this is a good step for me to improve my craft. I don’t want to be a generic director, I want videos that stand out and get people thinking.
After this past year, being my own biggest critic and rarely being satisfied with my work is finally allowing me to progress towards some unique and aesthetic projects in the future, especially with this new one I’m doing that’s currently in pre-production.
I’m still not doing videos for big name artists yet, but as long as I get to flex my creativity and imagination in these next few videos I’ll be content with the steps I’m currently taking.
Hella-Hype is going to be my Tumblr that’s mostly for reblogging while Bay-Based becomes my personal Tumblr for serious posts. I just wanted a blog where I could reblog all the funny shit I see on Tumblr so I don’t have to hold myself back anymore.
Whenever I talk on the phone with my girl till we fall asleep, I sometimes end up dreaming that I’m still talking to her on the phone. It’s weird, although this just started happening recently.
It’s like I’m having these random conversations with her in my dreams, but then I wake up and realize that I was actually sleeping the whole time and none of those words exchanged actually happened. Sometimes I even carry on the conversations from my dreams into the actual phone convo because I’m sleep talking; I’m dreaming that I’m saying something to her, then I wake up and continue what I was saying, but my girl doesn’t know what the hell I’m talking about.
Then by around 6-7am, I get to the point where I can’t differentiate what conversations were from reality and which ones were just in my dreams. I think there’s something wrong with me. Lol.
lmao. my sister is recording it right now, we were waiting for it to finish because we don’t like watching commercials. hahahaha. its okay tho. i knew that fuccer would win.
Hahaha. Yeah, although the funny thing is that during the re-runs of the Finale episode they play commercials saying, “Congrats to Jeff for winning Food Network Star!” to promote his new show. It’s hella stupid, it spoils it for people who haven’t seen it yet. Lol.
I just finished watching the Food Network Star finale.
I’m a little late since it was a re-run, but all I have to say is that I knew Jeff would win over Susan.
What I noticed with this show over the past couple seasons is that it’s not the best overall contestant who wins, it’s the best contestant who fills the Food Network’s needs.
For example, if the best contestant this season was an Indian girl who made Indian cuisine, she still wouldn’t win even if she was three times better than the rest of the competitors. The reason for that is because Food Network already has someone for the Indian demographic (Aarti Sequeira), so there’s no point in having two cooks/chef who do the same exact thing. The producers pick new cooks/chefs because they need to add variety on their channel, not a duplicate of something.
That’s why I knew Jeff would win.
First off, the past two winners prior to this season were both girls. So right off the bat the Food Network needs a man since their channel has been adding so many women lately and need someone new to help balance the genders. A male winning would help because other guys could relate to him, and at the same time women would tune in to his show if he’s charming enough.
Secondly, Jeff’s show is unique to Food Network. The guy is the “Sandwich King”, there’s no other shows on Food Network that has a chef put emphasis on sandwiches. Having Jeff on board with the network would help them have something different in contrast to the other themes they have. The Food Network already has a Latin influenced show on their channel, so that made the chances of Susan (the other finalist) much lower.
With that said, Food Network made a good decision to choose Jeff as the winner. He adds more genuine humor and charm to the network with a personality that allures and captivates, while also introducing a new viewpoint on a food choice that many people love to eat. Altogether it helps give him that type of star quality that the network searches for. Lookin forward to seeing the Sandwich King’s new TV show.
I made a post Friday morning jokingly saying that I might die on Saturday from river rafting.
It wasn’t even as dangerous as I expected. It was actually really safe.
My friend Juan made me think that it would be hella hazardous since I heard him saying it was going to be some “Level 5” type of river rafting, but it ended up being just regular. My friend Paula even told me there would be hella crazy shit like whirlpools and whatnot, but the whole experience was pretty harmless. Our guide even let us jump into the water several times to swim (as long as we weren’t in the rapids) and we got to jump into the river off the top of high rocks/cliffs. Overall it was an entertaining, refreshing and thrilling experience, especially since it was my first time. Activities like river rafting really helps to make you realize how amazing/beautiful nature can be.
I was in the Philippines earlier this year and came across this amazing clothing store at one of the malls in Manila. The clothing line is called MEMO and they sell affordable sophisticated type of apparel for both men and women; button-ups, jackets, shirts, etc.
I bought a polo there and I loved it. For some reason their clothing fits perfectly on me. Like it’s not even half an inch too big or too small on me; it’s just right and fits snug without being tight.
Since I loved the button-up from MEMO so much, I checked to see if they have an online store so I could buy more. First off, it was hella hard to find their website for some reason. I guess their clothing line isn’t that big? Once I found their website, I realized they don’t even have an online store. Wth. They have all these fashion shows and whatnot for their clothing line, yet they can’t even set up an online shop for their customers. They make it so that it’s only exclusive in the Philippines, and not worldwide.
Kinda whack how I can’t order their clothes online. I’ve been transitioning out of my hypebeast days the past couple of years and I’m starting to lean towards a more classy and fashionable look; I would have bought a couple more clothes from MEMO, but sadly there’s no way for me to shop for their clothing while I’m here in the US.
I guess I’ll just try to find some similar clothing here in the Bay. I like going for the “half sophisticated, half ‘swagged out’” mixed look, especially when Jordans are incorporated in the blend of styles. I’ll be needing some more button-ups, but it’s hard to find some like the ones they have in MEMO.
Check this song out if you’re an Indie fan! In case you didn’t read my recent post about Doe Eye, this is a track by an up and coming musician who I feel has a lot of potential to gain major success and recognition.
I feel as if my taste in women are different than most guys.
For example, most guys would love to date a girl like Megan Fox. You hear mostly all guys talking about her when it comes to which woman is the sexiest and hottest. As for me, I’d much rather date someone like Kristin Kreuk. I barely even hear anyone talk about Kristin Kreuk, but for some reason I find her being one of the most beautiful actresses out there. I guess I like that innocent type of look that she has; The “Good Girl” look, not that conceited vibe that someone like Megan Fox gives off.
Haha, yeah. My family goes there at least once a year. My pictures don’t look as cool and dramatic as yours though.
Ohh, that’s cool. I didn’t think anyone would be able to recognize that place from my picture or even know of it in the first place. Haha.
But yeah, my parents always wanted to go there, too; we went there for the first time in 2008, then went back yesterday. I like the foreign/old fashioned look of it so I decided to bring my camera to take photos of the area. Lol.
